Quarry Worker
Barre, VT

POSITION SUMMARY:

ROCK OF AGES CORPORATION is looking for hard working, positive team players to fill quarry positions at our Barre & Bethel, VT locations.

This is an outdoor job involving the extraction of granite from our drive-in quarries. Tasks may include climbing ladders, occasional lifting and carrying more than 60 pounds, running quarry wire saws, drills, etc. Experience in the construction, farming or stone industry is highly desirable, but prior mining experience is not required because WE WILL TRAIN YOU.

Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus, but not necessary. This position generally has a winter layoff, late December to first week of April, with a sign-up for winter work and typically about 50% still working. Plant Driver / Equipment Operator

POSITION SUMMARY
Swenson Granite, Barre, VT is looking for a Plant Driver/Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for the safe transport of raw materials and waste materials and loading and unloading production equipment by performing the duties noted below. The shift schedule is Monday thru Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm.

1. Stage trailers for finished product to both on and off-site location(s) via truck and trailer.
2. Transport manufacturing waste product to off-site location(s) via dump truck.
3. Assist with shipping granite blocks and slabs to both company and non-company owned manufacturing facilities. Document shipping through established process.
4. Work with the co-workers in the saw plant and shipping department to assure that needs are met throughout the shift relative to trucking needs.
5. Oversee the inspection and documentation of our trucks and trailers used in this position in accordance with VOSHA.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
This position requires a minimum of a Class A CDL.

Swenson Granite Works is looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our Woodbury, Vermont location.

This full-time position performs the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic by maintaining equipment used in the granite quarry process, such as front-end loaders, forklifts, drills, generators, saws and compressors.

Duties include, troubleshooting equipment failures, performing routine safety inspections of shop and equipment, maintaining an inventory of materials, parts and other necessary supplies, prepare and analyze cost from outside vendors, repair and perform preventive maintenance of all mobile equipment, disassembles motors, pumps and components and cleans parts, and cleans tools and working parts.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience requires, minimum of 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing and/or quarry setting, personnel skills to work with all departments and vendors to reduce downtime and increase output, welding (MIG and Stick) and fabricating, preventative maintenance (PM) and implementing a PM program, and knowledge of OSHA/MSHA compliance matters.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Demands, this employee in this position will be regularly exposed to oils and grease, slippery surfaces, outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts and equipment. May be occasionally exposed to high places and places where explosives are being used. Most work is performed in a heated, well lit shop with occasional trips in to the quarry.

The Maintenance Mechanic must supply his or her own tools. Larger and specialty tools will be provided by the Company.
